New lecture: Metabolomics for the discovery of new natural products and biomarkers

The lecture is aimed at MSc students of biochemistry and chemistry as well as interested graduate students. It will take place every Monday, 10:15-11:45 (NC3/99), and Wednesday, 10:15-11:45 (NC2/99).

A hybrid lecture (lecture hall and zoom) is intended.

Recent lectures include:

  • Organic Chemistry I (summer semester)
  • Organic Chemistry II (winter semester)
  • Enzyme Catalysis in Organic Synthesis: White Biotechnology
  • Advanced Microbial Genetics
  • Chemistry and Biochemistry of Nucleic Acids and Proteins
  • Total Synthesis of Natural Products

Laboratory training for undergraduate students:

  • Practical courses for undergraduate students in chemistry and biochemistry.

If you are interested in joining our group for a Bachelor or Master thesis or preparatory undergraduate research projects, please contact us.

Students are enabled to pursue scientific projects with an ever increasing level of independence in an interdisciplinary environment.

Possible topics include one or more of the following techniques:

  • organic synthesis of small molecules for feeding studies
  • protein expression in diverse microbial hosts
  • protein purification
  • enzyme mutagenesis / enzymology / directed evolution
  • microbial fermentation and isolation of natural products
  • Biocatalysis / White Biotechnology
